Light Up Your Letterbox – Let’s Be New Zealand’s Brightest Address!

This winter, Cromwell & Districts is set to shine brighter than ever!

To celebrate the 10th anniversary of Light Up Winter, we’re excited to launch a brand-new community competition: Light Up Your Letterbox, brought to you by Aurora Energy and The Central App. 

During the month of July, we are inviting households in Cromwell & districts* to transform their letterbox into a glowing winter feature that brings colour, creativity and sparkle to our streets. No need to decorate your entire property, just your letterbox is enough to light up the night and help us aim for the self-proclaimed title of the brightest address in New Zealand.

With the school holidays upon us, it’s the perfect time to get creative with family, friends and neighbours and bring a little extra magic to winter evenings.

Having joined the 2025 event as a new sponsor, we’re thrilled to have the backing of Aurora Energy, who are stepping up in 2026 to champion the Light Up Your Letterbox competition and help bring this new initiative to life.

Our official media partner and competition manager, The Central App, is at the heart of the campaign, showcasing entries and supporting the community throughout. Fantastic prizes are up for grabs, with entrants in the running to win: 1st prize – a $500 voucher from FreshChoice Cromwell, 2nd prize – a $250 voucher from The Tarras Village Store, and 3rd prize – a $150 voucher from the Bannockburn Hotel.

*Please note accepted entries from residents living in the Cromwell ward encompassing both urban and rural communities. This includes the main urban centre of Cromwell, and settlements of Bannockburn, Pisa Moorings, Lowburn, Queensberry and Tarras.
