Lanterns On Sale Now – Here's Everything You Need to Know

Lanterns are officially on sale for Light Up Winter Cromwell!

Be part of the breathtaking Lantern Release – one of the most magical moments on the winter calendar.
Here’s how it works this year: A limited number of lanterns are available for sale. You’ll need to purchase your lantern online at www.lightupwinter.co.nz in advance while stocks last – there are no sales on the night. Once purchased, you'll receive a QR code ticket. Bring this along to the event and head to one of the signposted Lantern Token kiosks located in the main event area between 4–7pm to validate your ticket and receive your Lantern Token. This token is essential – no token, no lantern. Tokens are your responsibility, and replacements won’t be issued for lost ones.
From 7.10pm, tokens can be exchanged for lanterns at the designated release zone on the rugby field. This is the only time and place for lantern collection.
Please note:
The lantern release is weather dependent. If wind speeds exceed 15kph or if it rains, the release will be postponed to Sunday 3 August, 7.30pm.
If poor weather continues, the release will not go ahead and no refunds or lanterns will be issued – this is a safety requirement.
